Direct Sales is about Sharing NOT Selling

Direct Sales is a Business of Sharing not Selling

Time to Share Along the road on my journey in Direct Sales I’ve talked to prospects and reps on my own team who have said to me “I’m not a salesman” or “I don’t like to sell to people”!  But reality is Direct Sales is NOT a business of selling, it’s a business of sharing.  Sharing your story, sharing your results, sharing your dreams, and sharing them in the right way so they are found, seen and listened to, by the people who relate to you.  It’s sharing who you are that inspires people to join you and start their own journey, whether that journey is using a product or joining an opportunity or both.

When others in primary company say they are new and not getting any customers, and I ask them what they’ve done so far to share, it’s usually the same answer.  They posted on their personal facebook profile, maybe created a fan page and invited those friends, maybe even joined “like ladders” to get fans, and then wonder why they can’t get sales.

You really need to sit down and write a marketing plan.  Create a Daily Plan of Action, and stick to it.  So what are the ways to share your story?

  • YouTube
  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Instagram
  • Pinterest
  • Meetings/Parties
  • Craft & Vendor Shows

You don’t need to spam websites and groups, in fact I think they are a waste of time and only annoy people, and that’s not your intent.

But you have to understand that sharing one video or one post doesn’t mean sales will come rolling in.  It does take time.  I’m sure you’ve heard the phrase: “Planting Seeds” before and it really is true.  It took a solid 6 months of showing my weight loss results with my companies product before it began bringing me a large number of Customers and Team Members came to me, and they did because not only were they able to SEE my results before their very eyes, but they were able to get to know me, my personality, and want to work with me.

It’s important that when you put yourself out there that you let your personality shine through and let people relate to you!  And as you keep doing this, the rest will follow.  Give it time, don’t give up, and you’ll have the success you want.

But I don’t know enough people EXCUSE

How to end the “I don’t know anyone” trend….I mean excuse.

Chances are if you are or have ever been in Direct Sales, you’ve either uttered these words or heard them spoken by someone else. I couldn’t begin to tell you how many times I’ve heard these words spoken by those that have joined a company with high hopes and then realize you have to work the business to make it work. No matter how you try to spin it, this is just another excuse. And now is the time to end the excuses and take accountability.

I am living proof that you don’t have to have an extensive group of friends and family in order to have success in Direct Sales. When I see “Memory Jogger” lists that say to write down people like your Hair Dresser, Manicurist, Landscaper, Bank Teller, etc; my retort has always been:

“Well let’s see, I cut my families hair myself, I paint my own nails, I cut my own lawn and I use online banking”

First I do believe that it’s true that we know, directly or indirectly, more people than we think, which is why I do think we should all take the time to write down the names of those people. But at the same time, IT DOESN’T MATTER!

I’ve build a successful business with my primary company, with hundreds of customers and team members, based on people I never met or spoken to! Building a successful team and customer base from “Cold Market” leads is possible. So, the excuse of “But I don’t know anyone” or “I don’t know enough people” is no longer a valid excuse.

How Have I Done What I’ve Done?

How did I do it? How do I continue to do it? Watch the video below to find out, and then leave a comment below and tell me if you got anything out of the video!

Do You Know Your Why?

Do You Know Your Why?

Why is your why important, and what is it, exactly.

do-you-know-your-whyWhat does it mean when you hear your upline say to you: “What is your why?” What sounds like a very simple question really needs to have a very personal, detailed answer.  Your why, your reason for getting up each day as well as why you want to be a Network Marketer is a vital part of your success.

It can mean the difference between success and failure and achieving your dreams and goals.  It is the foundation of the life you want to create.

Your why shouldn’t be a simple “Because I want to make money” or “Because I want my kids to have things.”  Look deeper than that, go down to the core of the simpler answer and really get your emotions stirred up.  “Because I’m sick of stressing about about money and taking that stress out on my kids by yelling or being snippy.  Because I want to take them on real vacations and let them experience the wonderful things this life has to offer.  I want a better house in a better neighborhood so we feel safe and secure and my kids can flourish.  I want to feel pride in what I do every single day and know that I am making a difference not just in our lives but in the lives of others.  I want to leave a legacy.”

See the difference?

Your Why & Your Goals.

When you have defined your why and can live and breathe it, making the decision to do something every day towards reaching your goals is easier.  Do you want to achieve this life you envision?  Do you want to create this pride, love, security and legacy?  As you set the goals you want to achieve in your business you need to remember your why and it makes achieving the goals you set for yourself all the more important to you and your family.

Don’t let your why be your excuse

But it’s important to not let your why also be your excuse.  I’ve seen many give up without ever really trying.  And this happens because their WHY wasn’t strong enough, if they even bothered thinking about it.  Watching Top Earners talk about their lifestyle brings about ethusiasm and motivation, but people also tend to want the immediate.  They don’t think about the steps and time it takes to make it happen, and when they don’t see results from very little work, that ethusiasm fades and people quit, without ever really getting started properly.

It’s easy to let your why also become your excuse.  If your why, in in simple terms, is your family, then don’t say you don’t have time to work your business today BECAUSE of your family.  This is the time for a little sacrifice.  You have to have a chat with your kids, explain to them that from 6pm to 7pm mommy needs to work and not be disturbed (or whatever time you put aside for your business), you may have to resort to the TV Babysitter so you can work for a bit, maybe miss a soccer game or two.  And while in the now these seems like a sacrifice in the long run it will change your families lives forever.  It will achieve those goals and your why.  It will create the life you are dreaming of, and if your future self  and kids could talk to you now about those little sacrifices you have to make today are 100% worth it, you’ll realize it’s not so bad.  Sacrifice today so you don’t have to in the future.  Don’t let that why be the excuse that stops you from that future!!!

Plant your garden and watch it bloom

dead-gardenImagine planting a beautiful garden of flowers.  You spend the day picking them out, or growing them from seeds, you plant them tenderly in the ground and take a step back and look at your hard work.  But then one day you are busy and you forget to water it.  And then the same thing happens the next day, and the next, until one day you step outside and see dried up dead plants, where the flowers you once tended to once were.

The loving care and work can’t stop.  If you want to see those plants bloom and thrive blooming-gardenthey need water, sunlight, and weeding.  You have to work at it.  Yes, it’s easy to “take the day off” but it’s just as easy to decide those flowers are important enough to spend a few minutes watering them.  And those easy decisions each and every day pile up, they either pile up to a dead withered garden, or they pile up to meaning a beautiful garden you can appreciate and enjoy.

See the finish line

finish-lineThat is your business.  The decision is easy.  You just have to say to yourself: Is my why important enough, are my goals something I want bad enough?  And if it is, then do something every single day to get you closer to the finish line.  Even on vacation, you can post on your fan page or record a video.  It could be as little as 10 minutes spent in the morning at the hotel room, post it and BAM you worked on your business and got one step closer to the finish line.  It really is as easy as that!

Your Next Step

It doesn’t matter if you haven’t joined a company yet, or if you’ve been with your company for 3 years.  Sit down, write down what your why is, and look at it every morning before your day starts.  And make that choice that today you’ll do something towards getting the life you want!

Direct Sales Facebook Fan Page Faux Pas, and How NOT to do them

Time and time again as I’m on facebook viewing other Mompreneur’s fan pages I notice the same critical errors being done over and over again.  And if I could spend all day sending everyone messages advising them to make simple changes I would, but that itself would be a Full Time job, plus I think many would get a little annoyed with me, lol.

But what do I mean about Facebook Fan Page Faux Pas?  As a Mompreneur trying to grow your business you’ve done the right thing in creating a Fan Page.  But are you getting the engagement, comments, & likes as well as customers and new team members from it?  Yes, we want to have targeting ads out there attracting those who need help solving their problems, such as targeting those who want to lose weight to our weight loss based fan page.  But if we are making these critical errors to our fan pages in the first place, it’s a waste of time and money attracting these targeting fans because they will be uninspired and unimpressed and eventually unlike your page.

So what are these 3 Facebook Fan Page Faux Pas?  And WHY are they even Faux Pas in the first place? Watch this short video and find out!

Let me know what you think about this video and if you are guilty of any or all of these Facebook Fan Page Faux Pas in the comments area below!
