How To Create an Online Marketing Plan

How to Create an Online Marketing Plan

So, recently another rep from my primary company came to me asking for help.  They thanked me for my recent post: The “I Don’t Know Enough People” Excuse and said they are the same.  I know there are a lot of us ladies out there in the same situation, so if you haven’t read the post yet I highly recommend it.  But in the conversation I mentioned how they needed to create an online marketing plan and stick to it.  And she didn’t understand what I meant.

Now this is in no way a put down because I 100% get where she is coming from.  If you are just starting with Direct Sales, it’s not just the Old School idea of just having Parties.  Direct Sales has come a long way and if you haven’t looked into it, how could you know?  Everyone starts at the beginning.

Imagine opening a store selling shoes.  Yet you don’t know anything about shoes, other than what’s on your feet.  You don’t know anything about selling or buying wholesale, how to use a register, how to hire employees, how to keep records, etc etc.  If you open a business, you need to educate yourself on that business.  Yet many in Direct Sales ignore this logical thinking.  They expect to sign up one day and become rich the next, and when it doesn’t happen, they say “it’s a scam” and quit, without ever first learning the skills that makes you successful!

What do I mean by Online Marketing Plan?

online-marketing-planAn online Marketing Plan is where you sit down, either on a computer or with a notebook and pen and write down the goals you want to achieve with your business and create an outline of what you will do online to achieve those goals.  It is creating a plan of action, setting a budget, and then implementing those plans.

This can include things such as, but not limited to:

  • Craigslist ads
  • Youtube Videos
  • Facebook Fan Page
  • Facebook Ads
  • Pinterest
  • Blog
  • Instagram
  • Twitter

And so forth, but if you spend the time to do these things, you should first spend some time learning how to do these things correctly so they are effective.  It’s a waste of time and energy to do something that won’t get you to your goals.

twitter-educationThis is where learning from the Network Marketing Professionals, such as myself, comes in.  You need to learn how to do the things you write into your marketing plan, so they are effective and successful.  It doesn’t have to be scary or even expensive.  You’ll find most professionals give free training, including myself.  It’s out there waiting for you, all you have to do is decide to take the time and effort to learn it.

When you are creating your online marketing plan you want to be realistic and you want to STICK TO IT.  You need to understand that doing things for a week or a month and getting depressed because you aren’t the top earner in your company yet, is just not realistic.  You need to stick to your plan, stick to your goals, and do them CONSISTENTLY.  Create a Daily Action Plan.  Sit down and decide what you are going to on what days.

An example would be:

On Mondays I will write a new blog post and share it on facebook.  On Tuesdays I will create a new video on youtube, share it and put a screen shot of it on pinterest.  On Wednesdays I will do an Opportunity call.  On Thursdays I will write another blog post and share it.  On Fridays I will post ads on Craigslist (if allowed by your company).  On Saturdays I will do another video and on Sunday I will write and schedule all my facebook fan page posts for the week and create a facebook ad.

None of this has to take a LOT of your time.  Many of what I posted above can be done in about 30 minutes.  And no matter how busy we all say we are, if we are serious about building our business and reaching our goals, we can find 30 minutes a day to make it happen!

If you are ready to learn the skills you need to succeed then please take a moment and comment below.  Tell me what skills YOU want to learn about.  And we’ll talk about them in an upcoming post/video!!!
